come join us for an intimate, one-day INTENSIVE workshop focussing on standing out in your market through personal branding and unique imagery. we will be discussing the steps we've taken for our business to carve out a specific niche in the most competitive wedding market in the world. we will be spending the first part of the day focusing on branding, finding inspiration, finding YOUR clients, and managing those client's expectations. after lunch we will be heading out on the town for a shoot showing how we make our unique, creative portraits in any environment. we will demonstrate shooting in a wide variety of everyday situations and give practical, specific techniques about how to walk away with stellar images every time. from great light to "so-so" light to "what light?!?! to MY light! we will teach our unique, award winning style of portraiture using a real couple in real world locations! we will be teaching our distinct style of casual posing, un-posing, thinking creatively, utilizing natural (harsh and soft) and artificial light of all shapes and sizes. after the shoot we'll lay ourselves bare and show all the images from the shoot then reveal all of our mild to wild post-processing techniques in photoshop. so bring your thinking caps and notepads cuz it's going to be a brain busting busy day!

the shootshop will take place at a photo studio in CHICAGO baby!!! exact location will be provided upon registration.

the shootshop will take place on TUESDAY OCTOBER 19TH, 2010 from 9-7-ish followed by a wrap up dinner and no holds barred question and answer time. we love to chat with photographers and answer as many specific questions as possible so we've scheduled plenty of time to eat and mingle with our intimate group :)

we believe strongly in the importance of providing personal attention to all our workshop attendees so we will only be allowing a MAXIMUM OF TWENTY people to attend.

the shootshop fee is $800USD per person. we will be providing breakfast, lunch, and the wrap up dinner...so the yummies in your tummies are all covered!

* The shootshop was better than what I thought it would be. To be honest, making such a large investment for a one-day seminar is scary because I'm never sure if it'll be worth it. Trying to sum up my experience with adjectives and metaphors won't do it justice. Beyond all else, Nate and Jaclyn were 100% real. They didn't hide behind smoke and mirrors, answered every question with extra detail, and kept things fun. if most couples are like oreos, then michelle and steve are the double stuffed and dipped in vanilla cream limited edition only for the holidays kind of oreos. not only was their amazing wedding at the INSANE SADDLEROCK RANCH in malibu but michelle is also best friends with melissa so plenty of familiar faces were there to bring the party :) ENJOY!

last week we were in new york for a wedding and a SHOOTSHOP in brooklyn :) we've done more shootshops than my fingers can keep track of now but i've got to say this one was one of the best yet! we had an awesome group of 20 new friendtographers, wonderful models, and a tricky but fun space to work with. the morning of the shootshop we got a nice little surprise that the brooklyn naval yards we had planned to do our shooting demo in were off limits to us, leaving us a 400 square foot rooftop and the hallways outside of the studio to shoot in...we love a good challenge...here's a few of our favorite improvised images from the shoot :) a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the photographers that travelled from far and wide to come see us in brooklyn, your merit badges are in the mail :) we love you. lots.

we're out of town this week for sondra and ben's wedding in connecticut and then we'll be in new york for a shootshop. we made this frame at sondra and ben's wedding today, it could be one of our most favoritest wedding images ever :)

i've run out of ways to say awesome, so i'll just say melissa and brian's wedding was AWESOMExINFINITI+1. also, a HUGE THANK YOU to jessi haack for being one of the most radical coordinators we've ever worked with :) ok. buckle up. here we go...a full on wedding blog post...this never happens. * side note to any couple out there: please do a first sight and your portraits before the ceremony. seriously. the portraits are bagillion times better, the reactions and emotions in the first sight are also a bagillion times better than the walking down the aisle moment :)
