yesterday on the drive home from mammoth with all the boys we stopped off the desert highway to an *almost* abandoned mining town called randsburg the population there is only 42-ish people and we happened to spend some time with a good six of them...eight photographers running around town causes some attention :) i stopped by "the joint" bar where i met olga, a 99 year old (yes i said 99!!!) woman who has owned "the joint" bar for 50 years. she was so sweet and absolutely adorable as she talked with us and sloooooowly meandered about getting us sodas. on the wall behind her stated "olga has recently raised her prices from 1960 prices to 1990 prices." i only snapped a couple photos of her but this one really stood out to me...it struck me as she handed back a dollar of change for a soda that at the ripe age of 99 after a long life of tending her bar, the last dollar she exchanged could be ours. nice to meet you olga :)
so while nate is away with all the guys, i'm having the time of my life with my two kiddos. jasper is just absolutely adorable and an amazing sleeper and i can't believe he is one month old today!!! grace is thoroughly enjoying being a big sister and is a huge helper. she loves to draw and brought this over to me the other day...melts my heart. can't wait for nate to come home tomorrow!!!
i bet you would imagine at least a few cool action-y images from a day of me snowboarding this past week...well you would be wrong...because i kinda suck...and more than me kinda sucking, my legs REALLY sucked and i was so stinkin tired by the end of the day that i barely mustered up the strength while i was resting on my knees on the slope to grab this one shot of a beautiful sky. BUT! i am really really really good at making run on and on sentences :) tomorrow in the EARLY am i'm heading out on the road to meet up with 9 other guy photographers in mammoth for a few days of snowboarding and relaxing...stay tuned for some more pics!
i *heart* rachel and pino...they we're beyond awesome at their engagement session in balboa park! their wedding is going to be off the chizzy at the new hard rock hotel in march and jaclyn and i are so excited because not only do they rock, but it will be our first wedding back together shooting as the kaiser team!
pino scored a perfect ten with the judges for his "not really looking like i am jumping but actually levitating in mid air" jump :)
i'm finally sitting down to tackle this mountain of great shoots from the end of 2007 that never got blogged! let's hop in our way way back machines and travel back to november together when the radical cook family came down for their second annual photo session with us! i had a blast with them at their last portrait session so of course i was so excited to have them down this year to see how much their boys had grown! carrie, john, and their two boys finn and harrison sure didn't disappoint, their session was a total blast and as usual, kept me on my toes...their kids are fast :)
check out their uber-spiffy 5x7 folded holiday card we designed for them too! the front:
a couple weeks ago i got to shoot another AWESOMETASTIC engagement session for stacey and daniel who's wedding is coming up quick! they were so cool to hang out with and i am just SO jazzed about their images!!! it was a beautiful day in downtown oceanside filled with my perfect shooting cocktail of alleys, parking garages, fences, and more parking garages :)
today we had a perfect lazy saturday! we had a sunny 75 degrees...a back yard...plenty of good munchies...and a yummy birthday cake for jaclyn's sister's daughter jessica's first birthday! i dragged along the camera and took a few snaps of kiddos :)
