yesterday = longest wedding day of our career. it's a good thing we were hanging with the AMAZINGLY AWESOME sharon and dean...the couldn't be a better couple to spend fourteen hours of our life with :) to add an extra dose of radical to their wedding day, sharon and dean got the CRAZYBOOTH for their reception...seriously, everyone should have one of these...and every couple should get as much use out of it as sharon, dean, and friends did! strap in kids, this CRAZYBOOTH post is hung like a horse long...and be forwarned, the last picture in this series is the most scandalously amazing CRAZYBOOTH pics i've ever taken! ENJOY!!!
coordinating the whole shindig was one of our favorite coordinators in the whole wide universe, ANGEL SWANSON of EVENTS OF LOVE AND SPLENDOR!
i love this "dead" series :)
dean, his bro, and dad!
t t t twins!
more dead sharon :)
see no evil. speak no evil. hear no evil. SMELL NO EVIL.
sharon and her dad!
chicka chicka yeah!!!
julie, you're my favoritest :) thanks for bringing me a fan :)
double trouble!
the first (and most likely only) time i've ever had two ladies grind up on me :)
! ! ! GOLD! ! ! the current CRAZYBOOTH champion for most scandalously amazing photo EVER!
sharon, dean, and friends...thanks for bringing the crazy, you rocked my world!

august 16th . 2008 . the deyoung museum . san francisco

olesya and joe seriously blew our mind! their san francisco wedding at the the deyoung museum was one wedding we've been looking froward to all year. although we had super high expectations walking into this one, each and every expectation we had was exceeded by gobtrilizzion!!! to top off the eyegasmic wedding location and decor, olesya and joe were one of the most amazing couples we've ever met! they were SO crazily into each other all throughout the day...it truly was a beautiful thing to experience :)

we've got to give MAJOR PROPS to coordinator extraordinaire jubilee lau, wedding designer extraordinaire gloria wong, and amazing florist, hunt littlefield designs for rocking the crap out of this wedding! seriously, we've been to so many weddings now that it takes a lot to get us really excited about decor and design and we were seriously giddy about this one! if you're in the bay area, you've got to check these ladies out!

NOW, FOR A THE IMAGE IS FOUND FIRST! THERE ARE SERIOUSLY SO MANY AMAZING PICTURES FROM THIS WEDDING, IT WOULD TAKE ME A MILLION YEARS TO EDIT THE HUNDREDS OF OUR FAVORITES! july 26th, 2008 . los willows . fallbrook, ca

ok, i am officially a way behind schitzofranic blogger who's randomly digging through the gabillion weddings i need to blog :) today's pick, dylan and kelli (still one of my favorite engagement session-ers) who rocked out at their amazing wedding way way back in july! dylan and kelli are just so crazily into each other that it made out job easy peezy fresh and squeezy!

dylan, helping his groomsmen get all put together before the big show...
kelli and her dad waiting to head down the aisle...
prayer of blessing at the end of the ceremony...i just love this moment!
so we've never really had this happen before, but the wedding/reception location left us totally stumped as to how to make it more awesomer...so we quickly grabbed dylan and kelli after the ceremony and sped down the road to a freeway overpass and empty road for their formals...result? MORE AWESOMER!
kelli = WOW
empty road + bright sun + back of dylan's truck = great spot of pictures :) i'll take a truck bed over a rose garden any day ;)
needless to say, dylan was a pretty excited dude to be married!
after our little wedding venue ditch portrait session...and resulting beef from the venue coordinator for leaving the property (he he he he)...the party got started and man, do dylan, kelli, and company know how to get down!!!
the father daughter dance :)
"my name is ______, and i like to party!"
:) :) :)
getting toasted!
...and of course, da rings!
dylan, kelli, you rule. smooches! nate+jaclyn

a coupe weeks ago we headed up to carla and adam's AMAZING spanish estate in the hollywood hills for their engagement session. now usually we get a little worried when people ask us to shoot at their homes, but man oh man, carla and adam's place was AWESOME!!! to top it off, adam and carla were totally up for anything and were so cute together! we spent the afternoon running around their property shooting our brains out...here's a few of our favs!
i saw a couple of spare ladders sitting on the side of the house that looked so lonely i just had to pull them out for a few pics :) they rewarded me with one of my favorite images of 2008!
their beautiful weimaraner max wanted in on the action too :)
carla + adam + their three kids :)
swimming pool? yes please! (i got TOTALLY soaked from their splash shooting this!)
carla and adam, you rocked our world! can't wait to have a blast with you guys in october!!!

the image is found ! ! ! NEW SHOOTSHOP DATE ! ! ! OCTOBER 29th 2008 9.11.08
! UPDATE ! SOLD OUT !

what is it?

come join us for an intimate, one-day intensive workshop focussed on creating unique, creative portraits in any environment. we will demonstrate shooting in a wide variety of everyday situations and give specific techniques how to walk away with gorgeous images every time. from great light to "so-so" light to "what light?!?!” to “MY light!” we will teach our unique, award winning style of portraiture using a real couple in real world locations! we will be teaching our distinct style of casual posing, un-posing, thinking creatively, utilizing natural and artificial light of all shapes and sizes, and even revealing our mild to wild post-processing techniques in photoshop. we will also be taking about marketing, client relationships, gear selection and branding...so bring your thinking caps and notepads cuz it’s going to be a busy day!

who is it?

us...duh :)

when is it?

the shootshop will take place on wednesday october 29th from 9-7-ish followed by a wrap up dinner and no holds barred question and answer time. we will also be hosting a welcome dinner on tuesday october 28th to get the party started off right!

where is it?

come roll with us in our hood...the shootshop will take place in and around our radtastic studio in oceanside california.

how much?

the shootshop fee is $750 per person and open to all non southern california (los angeles-inland empire-orange county-san diego) residents. we will only be offering five spaces for southern california residents with a special shootshop fee of $950. we will be providing the welcome dinner the night before, breakfast, lunch, and the wrap up dinner...so the yummies in your tummies are covered!

how many?

we believe strongly in the importance of providing personal attention to all our workshop attendees so we will be limiting the number of attendees to fifteen spaces. so if you’re interested, get on it asap!

how to get in like flynn?

if you would like to attend, please take a minute to download our registration form, fill in your information and fax it on over to us! space is limited and seats will sell out fast so get on it it! after your registration is complete we will be sending out more information with all the pertinent details for travel arrangements, locations, etc. hope to see you there!

on a side note...since i am sure many of you might be wondering...oceasnide (where our studio is located) is about 40 minutes north of downtown san diego and the san diego international airport. we are also located about 45 minutes south of john wayne airport in orange county or 90 minutes south of LAX. so you've got three good airport options to fly into...but i would aim for san diego or john wayne if possible...unless you really enjoy sitting in LA traffic, which is you haven't, trust us...you won't :) the welcome dinner will be at 6:00 on tuesday and the dinner on wednesday evening will probably wrap up between nine and ten. feel free to email us with any other specific questions. also, please note, as soon as we receive your registration we will be sending out more detailed info about lodging, locations, times, etc.

on another side note...every time we announce a new shootshop we get plenty of comments about coming to XYZ location to do a shootshop...we've heard all of the comments and emails and appreciate all of your enthusiasm! unfortunately at this time in life with a newborn, traveling for a shootshop is going to be out of the question for a while. so for now, if you'd like to get learned good with us, you'll have to come to our neck of the woods :)

what people are saying...(warning, blatant horn tootage ahead)

* The shootshop was better than what I thought it would be. To be honest, making such a large investment for a one-day seminar is scary because I’m never sure if it’ll be worth it. Trying to sum up my experience with adjectives and metaphors won’t do it justice. Beyond all else, Nate and Jaclyn were 100% real. They didn’t hide behind smoke and mirrors, answered every question with extra detail, and kept things fun. They’re an amazing team, but they remain humble via honesty, humor, and self-deprecation…all the things that makes my heart feel all warm-n-fuzzy.

If you have an opportunity to attend this workshop, DO IT! Even if it means having a yard sale, selling an organ, or naming your first child Natelyn to fund the experience, DO IT! You’ll be inspired and rejuvenated a thousand times over.

Nate and Jaclyn, thank you. These two words seem so small to express how I feel, but I hope they’ll suffice until I can think of something better. You are some of the most amazing people in the industry and I’m honored to have spent so much time with you. Thank you for giving of yourselves unconditionally and sincerely." - jasmine star

"* nate+jac, for lack of better words, you guys rocked my world! The shootshop was so beyond my expectations, and it was a source of such great inspiration not just for my business, but also has refreshed my perspective as an artist. thanks for many priceless faces, laughs, moments, lessons, etc. I feel so blessed to have shared in it all! the thing I walked away with the most was the freedom to just be myself and operate the business according to who i am, not who others want me to be - it already feels like a huge weight is lifted off of my shoulders." - ashey parsons

"* ...i can't express enough how much this workshop has and will improve my game. i have a long way to go, but at least now I know which road to take..." - chris vaugn

"* ...BITCHIN'. that's all i got. cause other than that - there just aren't words big enough to describe all that i took out of 15 hours with you two fine folk." - ben harms

"*...nate and jac...you guys totally inspired me and answered my bazillion questions...thanks so much for your openness and approachability! You guys have an awesome relationship and I am in *awe* of your talent. I thought you guys were uber talented before I came to the shootshop and now...well....you are up on a pedestal that I hope to one day climb up!" - sarah goodman

"* Nate and Jaclyn, thank you both so much for allowing me to be part of the shootshop. My head is still spinning (all the way around) with so much information being shared. Seeing the images from the day brings everything full circle. The word that keeps coming to my mind is passion. Your passion for your craft, your family, your ever-increasing circle of friends/fans and for life is the very definition of success. More inspiring yet is your ability to instill that passion in others." - mark

"* Nate and Jaclyn...You guys were so open and honest about everything. Your shootshop was enlightening and demystifying at the same time. As a photographer, I am definitely walking away with a whole new perspective and I am so grateful for that." - jason tran

"* nate, jaclyn, you are two of the most genuine-ish and humble-ish people, thanks for much for the inspiration and all the wonderful tips. I'd do this again in a heartbeat!" - chris waters

"*F reakin cool.
R ealisation that not only are you bloody good at your job but you are really nice people too..

katie and ryan were the first to respond to the open casting call for my one day . your way shootshop models last week! my shootshopper wanted to see some work done in bright sun smack dab in the middle of the day so we left the overcast that surrounded our studio and headed inland to a random overpass thingy...all these images were shot within a hundred square feet or so :) katie and ryan were such a blast to shoot, there are so many more good pics but i have to stop myself somewhere!

i love this first series :)
